I sincerely hope you all had a happy and healthy Christmas time. It was a Christmas like no other and I am sure many of you missed having family members home for the festive time. With the vaccination on the way at least there is hope and that is what we need to focus on at this difficult time.
Following a meeting and contacts with the school management bodies and teacher unions yesterday afternoon, government has decided that teaching for all our students will be conducted remotely from Monday next, pending further engagement with the relevant parties.
While this is a relief for so many it also poses concerns in relation to the traditional LC and all that goes with it. All we can say at this stage is that Sancta Maria College will endeavor to provide quality teaching and learning remotely for our student population. There are no guarantees for any of us and we will follow government guidelines.
From Monday morning students will be asked to engage with their teachers online.
We hope to start as follows
9.30 a.m. Tutor meets their class groups. Students need to be seated at this stage at their study desk and be comfortable and ready for work. Tutors will explain the procedures and expectations for the next few weeks. If there is a problem with devices or with broadband please email firstname.lastname@example.org who will be coordinating the online engagement of the student population.
All other days students will be expected to be at their desk at 8.50 a.m. for tutor registration and ready for work. We understand there may be challenges but we have been preparing for this situation for some time. We had a very successful test run before Christmas and feedback from all involved was very positive. We hope to have a combination of live and pre-recorded classes as well as work being assigned for a specific length of time using G-suite. Students are very familiar with the range of facilities on this platform. Other teachers may use additional platforms and tools to enhance student engagement. Should you need to contact any staff member please refer to the last parent bulletin for a list of contact details.
Please realise we do not have all the answers. We will do our level best as we always do and keep in touch with you all. Can we also ask you to ensure that we have your email addresses. Mr Healy was very busy trying to ensure we had them all prior to Christmas but it may have slipped some of your minds. Can you please email him if this is the case with your sons/daughters names and classes too. His email is email@example.com.
We will also continue to engage with our students with additional learning needs.
